Abstract

1,046,177. Moving coil microphones. ELEKTROAKUSZTIKAI GYAR. Nov. 23, 1964 [Nov. 23, 1963], No. 47581/64. Heading H4J. A moving coil transducer, Fig. 2, has an acoustic resistance unit coupling the air space between the diaphragm 7 and the diaphragm carrier plate 8 with a larger cavity 6 within the microphone. The resistance unit comprises a porous plate 3 which is pressed against the holes 4 in centring plate 10, or the diaphragm carrier plate 8 if the centring plate is not provided, by a tuning plate 2, the pressure being adjusted and maintained by e.g. lugs 11 or screws. The resistance unit is prefabricated prior to assembly of the microphone so that the acoustical resistance of the unit may be adjusted, e.g. by measuring the pressure drop across the unit when placed in a stream of compressed air and adjusting the pressure of the tuning plate on the porous plate to attain a predetermined pressure drop, before assembly. In the prior art described the pressure of the tuning plate is maintained by a rubber bush mounted around the magnet 12, Fig. 1 (not shown).
