Abstract

The cooling of a metal surface is accelerated by coating it with one or more oxides of aluminium, calcium, copper, magnesium, silicon or titanium and subjecting the coated surface to a cooling spray. The coating may be applied before the surface is heated as a water slurry of 25-80% concentration by weight, or, after heating, as a suspension or dry with a bonding agent such as sodium silicate.ALSO:The cooling of a metal surface is accelerated by coating it with one or more oxides of aluminium, calcium, copper, magnesium, silicon or titanium and subjecting the coated surface to a cooling spray. The coating may be applied before the surface is heated as a water slurry of 25-80% concentration by weight, after heating as a suspension or dry with a bonding agent such as sodium silicate.
