Abstract

Barley or green malt is handled in a germinating bin by an endless conveyer 4 mounted on a travelling gantry 1. Flights 41 can pick up on either of the two upwardly sloping runs of the conveyer 4. The material may (according to the position of adjustable shoots 6, 6<SP>1</SP> be either transferred to the other side of the germinating bin (Fig. 1, not shown), or may be fed into a trough 7<SP>1</SP> containing a screw conveyer 71<SP>1</SP>. The latter may feed a further screw conveyer 81 (Fig. 3, not shown), running alongside the rails of the gantry 1.
