[Also in Divisions H3 and H4] In a portable radio transmitter-receiver, the plastic housing is provided with separate compartments for the battery 92 and the transmitter and receiver printed circuit boards 29, 30. Ledges 58. 59 ensure that the circuit boards are secured when the cover of the housing is fitted, the inner side of the cover being provided with a layer of resilient material 62. Auxiliary printed circuit boards may be mounted on lugs 51, 52 secured to the metal case of a filter 50 on main board 30. A telescopic aerial 24 is mounted on the housing, Fig. 2 (not shown), and is arranged to protect the controls 25 to 27 from damage due to accidental dropping. The housing is provided with serrations on the sides to provide a hand grip. The loud-speaker 37 and a microphone are concentrically mounted, the microphone being provided with a magnetic screen. Either a disposable or a re-chargeable battery may be used, the connectors being arranged so that a disposable battery cannot be accidentally connected to the recharging circuit. Metal fingers 98 are attached to the power transistors and press against the metal cover, a portion of the resilient material 62 being removed so that the cover acts as a heat sink.
