Abstract

The invention comprises a compound of the formula <FORM:1045235/C2/1> wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl radical and a process for the preparation thereof by contacting a compound of the formula <FORM:1045235/C2/2> with sodium nitrite in the presence of an acid and a solvent, or an acidic solvent to produce a compound of the formula <FORM:1045235/C2/3> contacting this compound with hydroxylamine in a solvent made slightly alkaline by the addition of an alkali agent to afford a compound of the formula <FORM:1045235/C2/4> and heating this compound in a solvent in the presence of an alkali.
