Abstract

A stable pourable suspension of a finely divided water-insoluble abrasive material in an aqueous medium containing detergent, also contains a finely divided bleaching agent whose particles have been coated with an inert substance which is abradable by the abrasive material when the suspension is used in scouring. Suitable abrasive materials are silica, felspar, pumice, kieselguhr, emery, carborundum, and polyvinyl chloride. The bleaching agent may be di- or tri-chloroisocyanuric acid or a water-soluble salt thereof, chloramine T, dichlorodimethyl hydantoin, calcium or lithium hypochlorite, an alkali metal permonosulphate, percarbonate or persilicate, or an organic per-acid or salt thereof. The coating agent may be paraffin wax, a higher melting point microcrystalline wax, a polyethylene wax or an ester wax. The aqueous medium may be selected from those described in Specifications 882,569 and 955,081, and in an example contains sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate, lauric diethanolamide, potassium groundnut oil soap, and sodium tripolyphosphate in addition to abrasive and bleach.
