Abstract
1,043,885. Valves. H. G. EAST & CO. Ltd. June 17, 1964 [June 20, 1963], No. 24626/63. Heading F2V. A non-rebreathing valve to regulate the breathing of patients during medical treatment comprises a valve body 10 having an inlet 11 for pressurized air or gas to be administered to the patient, an outlet 15 for air or gas connectable with the patient, an exhaust outlet 13 leading to atmosphere, a gas-control valve 21 to close either the inlet 11 or the exhaust.outlet 13, and a manually-actuable device 35 to adjust biasing means 27 for the gas control valve 21. The valve 21 is also biased by a spring 38 and a non- return valve may be provided in the exhaust outlet 13. Closure discs 22, 23 on the valve 21 are guided by axially-extending fingers 18, 19, while the device 35 consists of a knob and pointer connected to an angularly adjustable arm 29 for the spring 27, a spring 34 maintaining the arm 29 in its set position. For forced ventilation, the pointer is set to correspond with the pressure at the inlet 11 which is continuously indicated by a gauge on the valve body.
