Abstract

In a tractor drive transmission and power take-off arrangement, the drive transmission which provides for ten forward and two reverse ratios, comprises an input shaft 4 driven from one plate 3 of a dual clutch 2, 3, 5 and is drivingly connected to an axially movable member 8 which may be put in a position for a splined connection 15 with the primary shaft 7 of the transmission, or in a position wherein it may rotate independently thereof but wherein a pinion 13 formed therein is in engagement with a gearset 11, 10. The primary shaft is fast with pinions 12, 23, 22, 21 and 20. The gearset 11, 10, which is freely rotatable on the output shaft 9 of the transmission and may be coupled thereto by a selector 17, is in permanent mesh with the pinion 12. A pinion 31 which is also freely rotatable on shaft 9 and may be coupled thereto by selector 17, is in permanent mesh with pinion 23. Synchronizing rings may be provided for co-operation with each side of the selector 17. A gearset 30, 29 is non-rotatably axially slidable on shaft 9 and may be brought into engagement with either of pinions 22 or 21 and a pinion 26, also non-rotatably axially slidable on shaft 9, may be brought into register with pinion 20 or with a reverse gear pinion 27, Fig. 4, meshing with gear 21. The gear ratios are thus established between pinions 20 and 26, 21 and 29, 22 and 30, 23 and 31, 12 and 10 either directly through the teeth 15, or through the reduction gear 13, 11. A power take-off input shaft 6, concentric with shaft 4, is driven from clutch plate 5 and has pinion teeth 43 and 42 in constant mesh with pinions 41 and 40 loosely mounted upon an intermediate shaft 35 with which they are connectible by means of a selector 37. Shaft 35 is connected by means of a pinion 46, idler pinion 48, Fig. 2, (not shown) and pinion 47 with a shaft 15 to which is connected a rearwardly extending power take-off shaft 50. A slidable coupling 36 is provided so that power take-off shaft 50 may be driven in synchronism with the tractor speeds, or independently thereof by engaging either pinion 40 or 41 with selector 37. A power take-off shaft 51, beneath the vehicle, is freely mounted on shaft 15 and may be driven by engaging a pinion 53 with a gear 54 integral with gear 41.
