Abstract

1,043,408. Wrapping-machines. ASPRONICHOLAS Ltd. June 5, 1964 [June 6, 1963], No. 22524/63. Heading B8C. [Also in Division B5] In a sachet-forming machine a tube is formed from one or two webs by margin crimp rolls and the transverse seals are made by a pair of reciprocating crimp rolls which rotate at the same peripheral speed as the margin crimp rolls. The machine comprises shafts 34, 35, Fig. 6 (not shown), for rolls of heat sealable web 1 which are fed through the margin and transverse crimp rolls 2, 3 and 7, 8 respectively. Rolls 7, 8 are rotated at the same linear speed as rolls 2, 3. This movement by means comprising a gear train 11, 12 from a common shaft drive 9 and pinion 10, also rotates the rolls 7, 8 through gear trains. Reciprocating movements of the rolls 7, 8 are achieved by mounting them on pairs of arms carried on shafts 24, 25 oscillated by a bell-crank extension 28, follower 29 and cam 30 whose profile is adjustable to govern the time during which the rolls are in engagement with the web. Variable speed motors may be fitted for the separate drives of the shaft 9 and the cam, and the socket length can thus be varied. Reciprocating knife blades 38, 39 separate the contiguous sachets which slide down shoot 40 to delivery conveyer 41. Several parallel lanes of packages may be formed from the one or two webs and separated longitudinally by slitting rolls 43, 44. Control of the web feed to synchronize printed matter with the transverse sealing is possible either by manual variation of the speed of the shaft 9 or through a photo-electric cell 42.
