Abstract

Apparatus for dispensing material in the form of a tow of separate uncut continuous strands of glass &c., comprises a discharge nozzle connected by a conduit to a sealed container holding a supply of tow and means for introducing compressed air into the container. The container may be subdivided to hold a number of spools of two, Fig. 1 (not shown), or it may hold a single spool which unwinds from the inside. As the two unwinds it may pass through a guide in the container which may be a fixed or hinged eyelet. The spool may have incorporated with it talcum powder, produced asbestos, carbon, aluminium or lime, catalaysts, or foaming, binding or setting agents. The nozzle contains a valve comprising a rotatable block with a bore which is rounded on the downstream side to avoid damage to the material and has a p sharp edge on the upstream side to sever the material when the valve is closed. Fig. 7 (not shown). The valve may alternatively comprise a housing with diametrically opposed bores for a movable segment with sharp edges. The device may be used in conjunction with an arrangement for spraying a cementitious mix on to a wall composed of blocks stacked without mortar between them or of scrim, or wire mesh &c., whereby the material, which may be cut into pieces by a solenoid-operated blade, Fig. 2 (not shown), is used to reinforce the coating, which may incorporate colouring or finishing matter applied in the spray or separately. The cement and tow nozzles may be independent or combined in a unit, Fig. 1 (not shown).ALSO:Apparatus for dispensing material in the form of a tow of separate uncut continuous strands of glass &c., comprises a discharge nozzle connected by a conduit to a sealed container holding a supply of tow and means for introducing compressed air into the container.
