Track apparatus actuating signals on trains.- The circuit through apparatus on the train is completed when two collectors in the form of spring- pressed arms k carrying pulleys l run on a metal conductor a attached to a wooden or other support b, which is raised on a number of parallel links c by connexions to the signal-box. A similar set of apparatus may be installed to give a second signal, and a third signal may be given by the operation of the two apparatus simultaneously. According to the Provisional Specification 3871/16, contacts in the circuit of the signal apparatus are closed by a lever moved by engagement with a cranked arm or bow on the track. Alternative signals may be given by variable movements of the train contactarm.
