Abstract

104,225. Courtaulds, Ltd., and Clayton, J. March 1, 1916. Thread guides.-Funnels or thread-guides 2 for use in machines for making artificial silk, to guide the thread from the setting-baths into rotating spinning- boxes, are provided with supporting sleeves or ferrules 3 which are attached so that the axis of the sleeve lies in the line connecting the central points of the upper and lower ends of the tubular part of the funnel. The sleeve is attached in a device comprising an upright 4 having side arms 5, 6 with bearings 7, 8 for the upper and lower ends of the tubular part 1 of the funnel, and an intermediate arm 10 which is formed of two hinged parts and supports the sleeve 3. A filling of pitch &c. is poured into the space between the sleeve 3 and the tube 1.
