Abstract

1,041,959. Two-part couplings; plug boards. AMP Inc. June 28, 1965 [July 13, 1964], No. 27234/65. Addition to 954,625. Heading H2E. A plug for insertion in a plug-board aperture comprises a sleeve 20 which is inserted into the aperture, and a detent 22a biased outwardly by a torsion rod 22e through an arcuate slot 20e in the sleeve. The plug has a nose member 24 which is movable longitudinally and has an enlarged head 24b which on inward movement of the nose engages an enlargement 22c and pushes the detent outwardly. The torsion rod 22e is attached at its other end to a C-spring 22b which is held in a groove 20c in the sleeve 20. The torsion rod, spring and detent may be formed from material having either a flat or round cross-section. The plug may be formed with two torsion rods and detents, the torsion rods being joined to the C-spring either at its open ends (Figs 3B, 7B, 8B, not shown), or in diametrically opposed positions (Fig. 4B, not shown). In the embodiment of Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown), the nose is integrally formed with the C-spring.
