Abstract

Liquid preparations for cleaning windscreens and other transparent panels comprise an aqueous solution of at least 0.01 wt. per cent of each of (a) a wetting agent of formula <FORM:1041540/C4-C5/1> where R1 is a hydrogen or lower alkyl group, R2 and R3 are each aryl, aralkyl or C4- 16 alkyl radicals, and X is an alkali metal (Na only specified), ammonium or a neutralised organic base (e.g. mono-, di-, or tri-ethanolamine or morpholine), and (b) a detergent of formula <FORM:1041540/C4-C5/2> where R4 is an aryl, aralkyl, or C4- 16 alkyl radical O-R5 is a polyalkylene oxide radical having 3-20 alkylene oxide units, and X is as in (a). The alkylene oxide units of (b) may be ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, or butylene oxide. The preparations may contain an alcohol, e.g. ethanol or isopropanol, and may be dispensed in aerosol form.
