Abstract
1,040,837. Semi-conductor devices. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. May 21, 1963 [Aug. 13, 1962], No. 20095/63. Heading H1K. [Also in Divisions G1 and H4] An electro-mechanical transducer comprises a transistor having emitter and collector junctions, means for applying stress to the transistor so as to produce a strain across the junctions, and electrical means for deriving an electrical output from the transistor responsive to the applied stress. The stress may be applied by means of a hard pointed member 11 as shown, or a cantilever member to which the transistor is fixed, Fig. 3 (not shown), or a diaphragm, Figs. 2 and 4 (not shown).
