Abstract

A herbicidal composition comprises 1 to 10 parts by weight of 2, 4-dichloro phenoxyacetic acid or a salt or ester thereof and at least 10 parts by weight of 2-(2, 4-dichlorophenoxy)-propionic acid or a salt or ester thereof or at least 10 parts by weight of 2-(2, 4, 5-trichlorophenoxy)-propionic acid or a salt or ester thereof. Specified salts are the alkali metal, alkylamine and alkanolamine salts and specified esters are the alkyl, cycloalkyl aryl, arylalkyl hydroxyalkyl and alkoxy alkyl esters. The compositions may be in the form of solutions, emulsions, suspensions powders or granules and may contain adjuvants toxic to weeds such as phenols, kerosene, fuel oil, gas oil and coal tar derivatives. Fertilisers e.g. urea and ammonium nitrate and compounds containing Zn, Fe, Mn, Cu, Co and Mg may also be present.
