In a side-feed baler, in which the feed mechanism 2-6 is disposed at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the baling chamber 8, the plane of the ground wheels may be rotated, relative to the machine frame about a vertical axis 24, and retained in any required position, so that the machine is drawn crabwise over the ground. In this way the pick-up mechanism is inclined relative to the direction of travel P, of the baler, and the amount picked up by said mechanism is improved.
