Abstract

1,040,155. Anchoring ships. A. C. DUNSMORE. May 27, 1963 [Feb. 27, 1962], No. 7533/62. Heading B7S. An anchor and mooring tackle comprises a body 1 (Figs. not shown) and a plurality of arms 4 pivoted to the body to allow movement relative thereto in a plane substantially perpendicular to the plane containing the body, one end of each arm having means 9 for engaging the sea-bed while the opposite end of each arm is connected to a mooring line 7. The arms 4 are pivoted to body 1 by means of brackets 3, and are connected at one end to a common link 11 to which is attached a mooring line, e.g. a synthetic fibre line of the eight-strand plaited type. The other ends of the arms carry pivoted anchor spades 9. A floating means 12 is provided to keep the line between the means 12 and the body 1 substantially taut. A floating pick-up device (not shown) is attached to the line at the end remote from body 1. The body 1 of metal or concrete is formed as an annulus and has inner and outer lips 6. The surface 22 of the body may be concave or planar.
