Abstract
1,039,806. Gas turbine blades. ROLLSROYCE Ltd. June 22, 1965 [June 29, 1964], No. 26881/64. Heading FIT. A gas turbine nozzle guide blade 10 has a slot 13 at its leading edge 12 to trap relatively stagnant gas which heat insulates the part of the guide blade behind the slot. The slot has an included angle of 60 degrees and may extend the full radial extent of the vane or along only a portion thereof. The maximum depth of the slot is less than 60 per cent of the adjacent maximum wall thickness. Cooling air is supplied to passages 16, 17 and exhausts through ports 18.
