In apparatus for dispensing light-sensitive sheets of paper from a closed container, the latter is closed by a second container for other sheets and which is slidable on the first container and has a pivotal connection therewith. To dispense a sheet, the second container 2 is slid rearwardly over the closed container 1 against the action of a spring 24 to cause a roller 35 to roll over the pile of sensitive sheets, and on the return movement of the container 2 by the spring 24, the roller 35 is locked against rotation and forces the top sheet of the pile along a ramp 8 and through a slot which formed by the temporary further separation of edges 9 and 15 on the containers 1 and 2, respectively. The functional parts causing the sheets to be dispensed are carried by the removable container 2. The container 1 has a base 3, side walls 4, and a rear wall 6; and the container 2 has a top wall 16 an intermediate wall 10, side walls 11, a rear wall 13, and a front wall 14 having a lip 15 which extends inside the container 1 to overlap the ramp 8 and is spaced slightly from the edge 9 to leave a small gap which does not allow light rays to enter the container 1. The roller 35 has an elastic covering and is rotatably mounted on an arm 33 pivoted at 32 in a recess 51 in the plate 10, and a pawl 36 bears on the roller at an angle thereto such that the roller can rotate in a clockwise direction, but is wedged by the pawl which digs into the roller surface to prevent counterclockwise rotation. An extension 41 of the arm 33 is engaged by a push-button 42 in the plate 10 so that the roller 35 can be raised. The top container 2 has an opening 17, which is normally closed by a slidable cover 18, to allow insertion and removal of sheets of positive emulsion paper. The intermediate wall 10 of the container 2 has rollers 29, 30 which roll over the top edges 31 of the walls of the container 1, and brackets on the wall 10 support a rod 22 on which is displaceable a catch device 25 which is urged by the spring 24 to engage a recess in the rear wall 6 of the container 1 to form a hinge connection.
