Abstract

In a process for producing thermally insulating tubular articles of rigid polyurethane foam a foam-forming reaction mixture is sprayed by a gun on to a rotating mandrel to which an adhesion preventing layer, e.g. a strip of paper, asbestos, fabric or cardboard, is applied. If the insulation is for a pipe the pipe may be used as the mandrel. The foam may be covered with a layer of fabric, or plastics e.g. polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene for protection.
