Abstract

1,038,247. Stud and socket fastenings. UNITED-CARR Inc. Oct. 2, 1964 [Oct. 3, 1963], No. 40316/64. Heading E2B. A socket element for receiving a stud comprises a rigid member 11 disposed in superposed overlapping relation with respect to a stud engaging member 12 formed of resilient synthetic plastics, the members 11 and 12 having aligned slots 10, 15 respectively, the peripheral wall of the slot 15 in the member 12 being disposed inwardly of the peripheral wall of the slot 10 so that the stud inserted into the slots will pass freely through the slot 15 and make snap fastener engagement with the slot 10. As shown the socket element is secured by legs 14 to the body portion 1 of a wallet and receives a stud 8 on a hinged flap 5 of the wallet. In a second embodiment the stud is on the wallet body portion and the socket element on the flap. The slots 10, 15 allow the wallet to be closed easily with different amounts of contents.
