Abstract

[Also in Division H1] A process for the manufacture of insulated wire windings for electric coils, which comprises winding the wire, which is heated and tensioned in layers around support layers of paper, fleece, fabric or foil for the wire windings, the support layers being coated on at least one side thereof with a fusible and hardenable synthetic resin layer prior to being wound by the wire so that the individual windings are embedded and lie spaced apart in the resin layers. The resin layer either hardens when the wire is embedded or is heat cured later. The support layers may include plastics or glass or combinations thereof. Laminated support layers such as a coated fleece/fabric/fleece combination may be used. Thermo-setting resins such as phenol, melamine or urea resins may be used or unsaturated polyester resins such as vinyl and allyl resins or epoxide resins may be used. The manufacture of a choke coil is described.
