Abstract
Cycloalkanone oximes with 5 to 12 ring carbon atoms are prepared by catalytic dehalogenation with molecular hydrogen of strong-acid salts of the corresponding 2-halocycloalkanone oximes while dissolved in an organic solvent. Instead of the salt, the 2halocycloalkanone oxime itself may be used together with at least the equivalent quantity of a strong acid. The cycloalkyl ring may be further substituted, e.g. by alkyl or alkoxy. Strong acids include HCl, H2SO4, H3PO4, benzenesulphonic acid and toluenesulphonic acid. The organic solvent may be a carboxylic acid (e.g. acetic), an alcohol (e.g. ethanol), an ester, an ether or a halogenated hydrcarbon (e.g. methylene chloride). Suitable catalysts are the metals of Group VIII, e.g. Pd which may be used as a dispersion on active carbon or BaSO4 or as an alloy, oxide or salt. Temperatures of 0-70 DEG C. are mentioned. The concentration of 2-halocycloalkanone oxime is preferably from 25-50%.
