Abstract
1,036,241. Guards for cookers. OATELY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Jan. 22, 1963 [Jan. 22, 1962], No. 2186/62. Heading F4W. A safety device against the overturning of pans 7 on a cooker hob comprises a ring 9 removably mountable on the hob and adapted to encircle the pan so that when spaced above a heating position the ring is firmly located against lateral displacement but is removable in an upward direction. The ring has a support 11 with a downwardly extending non-circular portion 12 detachably engageable with a complementary socket for each burner position, in a holder 10 secured to the hob or in the hob itself. The holder is centrally disposed between the burners and any ring 9 can be used at any of the burners. The holder 10, of frusto-conical shape, is secured to the spillover tray 14 through a plinth 16 and has non-circular grooves in its surface to receive the inclined ends 13 of the downwardly extending portions 12. A sheet metal shell 20 fits over the holder, being secured to the holder by the screws 15. Sockets 21, Fig. 2 (not shown) are formed between the shell 20 and the holder grooves, being complimentary in cross-section to the ends 13 of the support 11. The sockets 21 open through the top of the shell. Vertically extending lugs 22 are fixed to the ring to closely embrace and restrict tilting of the pan, and a screw 23 or a cam can be provided to hold the pan tightly within the ring.
