Abstract

1,035,670. Engine stop gear. WAGNERHOCHDRUCK - DAMPFTURBINEN G.m.b.H. Aug. 16, 1963 [Aug. 18, 1962], No. 32602/63. Heading F1K. A speed dependent trip device for a turbomachine includes a control pin 12 mountable for rotation with a rotor shaft 6 of the machine with the longitudinal axis of the pin substantially coinciding with the axis of shaft rotation, the pin being arranged for limited axial displacement against spring means supported by a non-rotatable member to control a valve arranged in the fluid supply to the rotor shaft and a centrifugal member 7 mountable for pivotal movement about an axis substantially at right angles to the axis of shaft rotation and operable when the rotor shaft exceeds a predetermined speed of rotation axially to displace the pin to operate the valve. An hydraulic control means is provided to control the quick closing valve. A jet of fluid 35 is interrupted when the control pin 12 is axially displaced owing to the speed limit of rotor rotation being exceeded.
