Abstract
1,035,141. Hydrostatic transmissions. PRIESTMAN BROS. Ltd. May 3, 1965 [May 7. 1964], No. 19082/64. Heading F2D. An hydrbstatic transmission, particularly for an excavator vehicle, comprises a main pump 1 supplying two separate fixed displacement motors 6, 7 driving the wheels, and an auxiliary pump 32 supplying a power steering unit 36, the motor circuit containing a change-over valve 20 for selectively connecting the motors in series or parallel with respect to the main pump supply, the change-over being effected by pilot pressure supplied through a branch line 28 from the auxiliary pump supply line 34 under the control of a speed selector valve 35 in the steering unit circuit. The system also includes a manual forward and reverse selector valve 8 and a control valve 61 connected to the steering unit 36 and regulating the supply of pressure liquid to a steering actuator 60 and a rotary actuator 69 for a clam-shell grab which may be of the type described in Specification 1,010,086. As shown the changeover valve 20 connects the motor supply lines 12, 13, 24, 25 in parallel for low-speed drive, but if moved to the left by an actuator 29 connected to line 28 they are connected in series for highspeed drive. In the neutral position shown speed selector valve 35 connects auxiliary pump 32 to steering unit 36 by lines 34, 39, but if moved to the right by an actuator 37, pressure determined by a non-return valve 47 is supplied by lines 42, 28 to the change-over valve 20 to connect the motors 6, 7 in series, the supply at increased pressure to steering unit 36 being maintained. If valve 35 is moved to the left, lines 41, 28 are cut off, but pressure in a second line 42 determined by a second non-return valve 52, set for a higher pressure, is communicated to a brake actuator 54 in addition to the steering unit 36.
