A vulcanizing agent for natural or synthetic sulphur-vulcanizable rubber comprises a compound of the formula <FORM:1034936/C3/1> where R represents a hydrogen atom or an acyl group having the formula -C(=X)R1 in which X is oxygen or sulphur and R1 is an aliphatic or aromatic group.
