Abstract
1,034,802. Waveguide switches. W. H. SANDERS (ELECTRONICS) Ltd. July 9, 1962 [July 7, 1961], No. 24726/61. Heading H1W. In a waveguide switch of the type using a rotor 10 having waveguide passages arranged within a stator provided with ports 5, 6, part of the adjoining surfaces of the two members is provided by a microwave dissipative material at positions spaced from the signal path. Thus, the ends of the waveguide passages in the rotor may be surrounded by grooves 14 filled with a dissipative substance, e.g. carbonyl iron in a binder consisting of a cold setting unsaturated polyester resin. Additional circumferential grooves may be joined by axial grooves, the latter providing dissipative terminations at those ports blocked by the rotor. The grooves may be formed in the stator (not shown) instead of the rotor.
