A garment such as a ski-jacket having a draw cord 6 housed in a hem 11 at its waist or lower edge has has means to allow the free ends of the cord to be retracted into the hem when they are not tied together. In one embodiment, a loop of cord is drawn out of a gap12 in the hem and anchored to e.g. a hook 9 on the inside of the garment. In another embodiment an intermediate part of the cord is formed of extensible material.
