Abstract

1,034,442. Electric glass furnaces. STEIN ATKINSON STORDY Ltd. Aug. 28, 1962 [Aug. 4, 1961], No. 28489/61. Heading H5H. An electrically heated glass furnace installation comprises a furnace wall 1 having an aperture 2 and an electrode holder comprising a chrome steel sleeve 7, an asbestos sealing washer 27 between wall 1 and support plate 5 welded to sleeve 7, a finned copper alloy member 9, molybdenum electrode 34 and asbestos sealing rings 25 pressed against member 9 and electrode 34 by nut 21 threaded on to member 9. The holder is supported from furnace structure 31 by brackets 30 and studs 28 bearing against plate 5.
