Abstract

<PICT:1034144/C4-C5/1> In a carburetter a rotatable hygroscopic element 13 is partly immersed in liquid fuel 24 and partly disposed in an air passage 10 so that the air-flow causes rotation by impinging on vanes 18. The end 19 has internal and external vanes 21, 20 to agitate the liquid fuel and deliver it through passage 23 to head 17, which is additionally saturated by capillary attraction. The air flow takes up fuel from head 17, and vanes 18 assist mixing by agitation. The element 13, e.g. a porous ceramic, may be in flat disc, cylinder, cone or globe form.
