Abstract

1,033,226. Ignition control systems. CIE ELECTRO-MECANIQUE. June 4, 1964 [June 7, 1963; April 13, 1964], No. 23241/64. Heading F4T. A burner control system has a flame control relay 1 energized from supply points 17, 18 on closing the room thermostat 6, the relay 1 closing the contact 12 to energize the ignition transformer 13 for the burner, and closing contacts 9 to energize the motor relay 8. The motor relay 8 closes the contacts 14 to start the burner motor 15 and the contacts 11 to maintain the relay energized should the burner not light the heater 10 passing the motor relay current overheats and throws out the circuit-breaker 5. If the burner does light the sensor 2 decreases in resistance but the flame control relay 1 is not shunted since the relay 1 has opened the contacts 4 and a delay 3 such as a thermistor maintains the flame control relay 1 energized until the flame is up to temperature. When this state is reached the elements 3 and 2 shunt the relay 1 to deenergize it, the contacts 4 being made to allow the thermistor 3 to cool and leave the sensor 2 to cause actuation of the flame relay 1 again when the flame ceases. At the same time contacts 12 are opened to disconnect the ignition transformer although contacts 9 are opened the motor relay 7, 8 remains energized through the self-holding contacts 11. The delay 3 may be actuated by a thermal element of the circuit-breaker and the burner motor 15 may have starting and running windings.
