Abstract

1,033,071. Ingot strippers. KRALOVOPOLSKA STROJINA ZAVODY CHEMICKYCH ZARIZENI NARODNI PODNIK. Sept. 4, 1964, No. 36287/64. Heading B3F. An ingot stripper (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown) comprises a pair of gripping tongs 6 pivotally mounted on a cross-head 5 which is attached to a piston 3. The piston is reciprocatable in a cylinder 1 under hydraulic pressure. A pusher member 2 for engaging the ingot to be removed is attached to the cylinder 1 or is formed by an opposed piston to piston 3 located in the cylinder 1. Struts 9 are pivotally attached at one end 7 to the cylinder 1 or to a fixed point on the apparatus and are slidably connected at their free ends to the tong arm 6 by friction guide members 10 so as to control the opening and closing of the arms at the start and finish of the stripping operation. The stripper may be located beneath the level of the working floor or suspended from a crane.
