Abstract

1,033,058. Valves. HOMESTEAD VALVE MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 20, 1962 [Dec. 14, 1962], No. 48206/62. Heading F2V. In a plug valve having a non-wiping seating action, the inlet part 2 of body 1 is valved by the part-spherical surface 25 of an element 20, provided with a plane end 28, which is symmetrical about a polar axis 30 which, when the element 20 is seated, is coincident with the generating axis of the valve seat 46 and passes to one side of the axis of rotation 15 of the element. The annular seat 40 may be plane, convex or concave in section. Either the seat 40 or surface 25 may be coated with a resilient plastic or an elastomer.
