Abstract
A ferrous article is provided with a chromium diffusion coating by immersing in a molten bath containing at least 10% by weight of lithium and chromium, at a temperature over 800 DEG C. Diluents such as lithium halides, copper, lead and tin may be added to the bath. A blanket of inert gas may be used over the bath, and it may be agitated.
