1,032,982. Making dies and dental plates; stamping. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. March 25, 1965 [March 25, 1964], No. 12718/64. Headings B3A and B3Q. A working plaster model of an upper jaw is made in the usual way and an impression 11 is taken in a tray 12 therefrom. This impression is placed on a layer 13, e.g. plaster of Paris, at the bottom of a metal cylinder 14 and positive cast material 16 is poured in through a brass supporting ring 15. The cast may be of dental plaster or stone or of an epoxy resin and forms a die, which is placed in a holder 17 (Fig. 2, not shown). A stainless steel disc 18 is clamped between a cover-plate 19 and the holder and hydraulic pressure is applied to the top surface of the disc. The pressure is raised over a period of at least a second and after an initial deformation, the disc usually needs annealing. Alternatively, the plate may be made of gold, platinum, palladium or a chromium-cobalt alloy.
