Abstract

1,031,512. Poultry batteries. A. R. HATCH. April 26, 1963 [Jan. 26, 1962], No. 3052/62. Heading A1M. A poultry battery comprises multi-cage units 3 arranged in two or more spaced rows and frame members 5 attached to or forming part of the units which members support roof and wall structures 6, 9 enclosing the battery. A continuous droppings platform 10 extends below each tier of cages which are further provided with feeding troughs 12 and drinking troughs 13 fed from cistern 14 through conduit 15. Controlled air inlets 30 are located below the cages and extractor fans 31 are located within the roof. The side walls of the battery comprise a layer of porous insulating material sandwiched between an outer layer of aluminium and an inner layer of asbestos sheeting.
