Abstract

1,031,360. Pipe joints; joint-making packing. M. R. MILLER. Sept. 10, 1964, No. 37040/64. Headings F2B and F2G. A sealing structure for a pipe joint comprises an elastomeric adaptor 23 having a groove 25 therein for the reception of an 0-ring 27 adapted to bear against the inner surface of a socket 17, and a gripping band 33 of metal tightened over the adapter to clamp the latter on to a spigot 37. In a modification, the 0-ring is embedded in the adaptor.
