1,031,257. Gas filtering. VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHLWERKE A.G. and STANDARD-FILTERBAU G.m.b.H. Feb. 10,1965 [Feb. 13,1964], No. 5799/65. Heading B1T, In a gas filter comprising a plurality of filter pockets 2 each opening at a lower corner to a slot 5 in the wall 4 of the filter housing, each pocket communicates through a separate valve 10 either with filtered air outlet 7 or a supply of reverseflow scavenging air c, the valves 10 each comprising a tongue 12 having spaced apertures which slides between tongues 11,13, apertures in tongue 12 aligning with those in either the upper or lower part of tongue 11 (Fig. 2, not shown). The reverseflow air may be induced from atmosphere by a sub-atmospheric pressure in the filter housing. In operation, pockets in positions one and two, then those in positions two and three, and so on, are subjected to pulsating reverse flow by repeated actuation of their solenoid-controlled valves 10, whereby successive spaces between adjacent pockets are subjected to reverse flow from both sides, and dust dislodged therefrom falls into a hopper rather than being carried on to adjacent normalflow pockets.
