Abstract
1,030,408. Refrigerating. THERMOVAC INDUSTRIES CORP. Nov. 26, 1962, No. 44657/62. Heading F4H. In a refrigeration system comprising a compressor 10, condenser 12, heat exchanger 16 and an evaporator 22 the latter is defrosted by hot gas supplied directly thereto from the compressor through ljne 44 and a re-evaporator 24 is provided in the suction line 42a to evaporate refrigerant condensed in the evaporator. The re-evaporator includes an electric heater 58 and an oil return line 64. Defrosting is effected at pre-determined time intervals by a timer 38 which opens a valve 54 in the line 44, de-energizes a fan 20 blowing air over the evaporator and energizes the heater 58 which is controlled by a device 62 responsive to the temperature in the re-evaporator as sensed by a sensing element 60. The line 44 includes a portion 46 in heat transfer relationship with a drip tray 50 and its outlet 52.
