Abstract

1,030,092. Bearings. GLACIER METAL BOX CO. Ltd. April 13, 1965 [Jan. 16, 1964], No. 2084/64. Heading F2A. In a plain bearing the inner surface has a circumferential oil-distributing groove 3 located intermediate its length and has at each side of the groove a circumferential series of alternate raised lands 1 (which constitute bearing areas) and depressions 2. Each land 1 on one side of the groove 3 may lie opposite to a land 1 on the other side of the groove 3 or each land 1 on one side of the groove 3 may lie opposite to a depression 2 on the other side of the groove 3. The width and/or depth of the depressions 2 may diminish progressively from the groove 3 towards the respective end of the bearing. Oil may be fed to the groove 3 from a hole 4.
