Abstract

102,993. Schor, L. Jan. 7, 1916. Order apparatus, particularly applicable as ships' telegraphs, of the kind in which a separate circuit is provided for controlling each indicating - pointer. The transmitting push - buttons are arranged to close two circuits, one for sending the signal, and the other for cancelling the previous or existing signal. Fig. 2 is a section through one instrument, and Fig. 4 shows the electrical connexions, both instruments being provided with transmitting and receiving apparatus. Each instrument has a series of pointers G, one of which is brought into view beneath a glass cover by a lever B when the corresponding magnet E attracts its armature. The lever B is locked by a spring detent L provided with an arm M, and any of the armatures may be unlocked by rotating a star-wheel N to engage the arms M, a resetting-magnet R being provided for this purpose. Contacts Y, closed by each armature B when in the attracted position, are connected to contacts X on the other side of the magnet E, which are open when the magnet is energized. A call-bell Z' operated by a magnet Z, and a lamp Q<1> are also arranged within the water-tight case, which may have a hinged cover D<1>. The pushbuttons Q are operated by a plunger P carried on a pivoted sector A<1>. When a button is depressed, the closing of contacts 2, 3 rings the call-bell Z, and energizes the resetting-magnet R of the other instrument through the back and front contacts X, Y of the magnet E corresponding to the previous or existing signal. The closing of contacts 1, 3 energizes the selected magnet E at both instruments and causes the armature B to be attracted and locked, and its pointer G to be displayed. The opening of the contacts X at the selected magnet prevents the cancellation of the signal that is being sent. A special button A connected only to contacts 2, 3 serves for resetting only.
