Abstract
102,983. Ionides, A. C. Jan. 4, 1916. Casings; locking.-The separate constituents of a self-burning gaseous mixture are fed to mixing appliances associated with the burners of a furnace or heating device from capacious conduits surrounding the furnace, a constant relation being maintained between the pressures of the constituents, and vortices being created in the current of mingled fluids by deflection through a substantial angle, the constituents preferably entering tangentially a common annular mixing conduit and leaving it by an axial orifice. Figs. 5 and 7 show sections through one of the mixing-appliances, which comprises an annular mixing-chamber 17 supplied with gas and air respectively through tangential inlets 18, 19, the mixture being delivered through an axial outlet 20 controlled by a valva 22, which is provided with a spring-pressed bolt 24 for retaining it in the open or closed position.
