Abstract

102,976. Chkliar, I. Dec. 29, 1915, [Convention date]. Electrodes.-The electrodes of an accumulator consist, as shown in plan in Fig. 4, of a metal sheet 3 pressed between two sheets 1, 2 of lead. The compound strip is bent into the shape shown in Fig. 4, and active material is pressed into the compartments so formed. The whole is then placed in a receptacle 8, the lead sheets being fixed to the walls of the receptacle and, if necessary, to the lid 12 to form compartments for the electrolyte. By this arrangement, several cells are obtained connected in series without the use of external conductors, the terminals of the battery being connected to two simple electrodes 10, 11 in the end cells. Terminals may be provided on intermediate cells for obtaining a current of less voltage. To enable the active material to adhere firmly to the electrodes, rods 7 may be placed in the material during the compression process, the rods being subsequently removed. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the electrodes may be pressed between two grids which may be made of an active substance. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
