Abstract
1,029,630. Toothed gearing. E. S. LOWLEY. Nov. 23, 1964 [Nov. 27, 1963], No. 46768/63. Heading F2Q. A two-part casing for a gear having an input shaft 1 which drives through pinions 2, 3 an intermediate shaft 4 fast with a worm 5 meshing a pinion 6 on an output shaft 7, is divided on a plane containing the axes of the shafts 1, 4 and is made of a metal-powder filled plastic material, e.g. equal parts by weight of aluminium powder and epoxy resin. The two parts of the easing may be cemented or welded together. The housing for the shaft bearings are moulded integrally with the casing. Grooves are provided in the casing to receive mounting lugs 24. Oil seals 27 and drain and filler plugs 28 are provided.
