An internal herringbone toothed two-part ring gear 1<SP>1</SP>-1<SP>11</SP> is driven from or drives through axially stationary or planetary pinions 5 two oppositely handed helical pinions 7<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP> coupled by torsionally flexible shafts 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP>. Shafts 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP> may be pinned or splined together and axially held by a split-ring 9 and threaded plug (10), Fig. 2 (not shown), and are splined to a shaft 11. The pinions 5 are axially movable or axially-fixed if of two-part construction.
