Abstract

Polyacetals are stabilized with melamineformaldhyde and/or dicyanodiamide formaldehyde resins and/or modified formaldehyde resins with a melamine or dicyanodiamide base. It is preferred that the formaldehyde resins are added in an amount of between 0.01 and 5% and that the ratio of formaldehyde to the other constituents is between 1.5 and 3.5 to 1. In examples, a polyformaldehyde esterified with acetic anhydride, i.e. stabilizer with (1) melamine formaldehyde, (2) melamine formaldehyde ethanol amine resin, (3) dicyanodiamide formaldehyde resin, (4) melamineformaldehyde resin esterified with butanol, (5) melamine-m-cresol formaldehyde resin, (6) phenol melamine formaldehyde resin, and (7) melamine formaldehyde resin together with the anti-oxidant 1,1-bis-(2-oxy-3-tert-butyl-5-methyl-phenyl)-butane.
