Abstract
1,029,362. Drilling; punching; machine tool details. SOC. PROMAT S. a.r.L. Aug. 25, 1964 [Aug. 31, 1963; July 8, 1964], No. 34812/64. Headings B3B, B3C and B3W. [Also in Division G3] A machine tool, arranged for automatic control, comprises a work-piece carriage 1 driven by a built-in hydraulic motor, not shown, moving a workpiece 100 borne by rollers 104 associated with a bed 103. The carriage is moved along a longitudinal member 101 by a pinion engaging a rack 4. A frame 105 carries a process group 110 comprising machines such as punches 135- 138 and a cutting ram 139 arranged in three planes transverse to the direction of workpieee travel. After processing, the workpiece is disposed on a delivery bench 108. The process group is hydraulically operated through a pipeline 112 from an hydraulic station 106 and the group may include drills. The carriage motor is fed from a control station 107 through lines 61, 62 supported, to allow free carriage movement, by a cable-bearing chain 111. The carriage movement is determined photo-electrically by a photo-diode scanning holes in the motor pinion to generate electric pulses which are fed along a cable 127 to the control station. At the control station are provided counters, equal to the number of transverse planes, and controllers, equal to the number of machines, which are interconnected through display panels. The display panels comprise cross-bar selectors having sliding markers whereby any counting stage output of a counter can be connected to a controller. The counters receive the movement pulses in parallel and count from a reset value dependent on the displacement of the transverse planes. At counts selected by the markers a system of trigger circuits and Or-gates (see Division G3), causes the carriage to be slowed, then stopped and the machine associated with the controller actuated through an electro-hydraulic valve. When all the simultaneously selected operations have been completed in the transverse plane, the carriage is released and moves at fast or slow speed to the next operating position.
