Abstract

1,029,013. Centrifugal separators. AEROMECANIQUE. March 4, 1964 [March 11,1963], No. 9195/64. Heading B2P. A centrifugal separator comprises a tank 1 provided with a waste receptacle 5 and, at its upper part, with a rotary fan 13 leading to piping 12, 21 terminating at a suction device 22 driving clarified material towards a recycling piping system or to atmosphere. The fan 13 is mounted on the end of a shaft 15 driven through a belt 18 by an electric motor 19. The receptacle 5 which may be rigid or may be constituted by a bag, e.g. of paper is placed inside an enclosure 26 which may be kept under vacuum by means of a pipe 27 connected to the pipe 21 in front of the suction device 22. When removing dust from a gas, e.g. air, the latter is introduced through a tangential opening 20 into the tank 1 where the coarse particles are separated out against the tank wall while the fine particles together with the air current travel towards the fan which is constituted by blades and a lower plate 14 and which separates out the fine particles allowing the clean gas to flow through the piping towards a blower 22 which recycles the gas towards the tank 1 or discharges it to atmosphere. A water atomiser may be arranged in the supply duct or in the interior of the tank. When separating solids from a liquid or purifying a liquid containing another liquid of different density, the fan 13 may be constituted by a cylindrical cage made of perforated steel sheet.
